Featured 2023 Fall Porch
I love the simple elegance of this autumn front porch. Faux pumpkins are artfully stacked in basic terra cotta pots with greenery gently cascading down the sides of the pot. Two basic garlands were layered to frame her doorway, mixing fall colors with a greenery garland. Cozy lights were added to provide a magical glow in the evening.
To wrap up the porch decor, a beautiful customized fall wreath is paired with the reversible “Hello Fall” sign to add a pop of bright orange to the neutral color scheme. A cozy fall doormat is used to complete the look and provide a warm welcome to visitors!
The great thing about this porch is this blogger repurposed decor from previous years to add an element of sustainability to her seasonal decor, which saves money! Be sure to get your pumpkins during clearance at the end of the season to save up to 75% off or during the 50% off sales at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

Fall Porch FAQs
Repurpose and Upcycle: Before buying any new decor, look around your home for items that can be repurposed. An old ladder can be painted and used as a display or plant stand. Old planters can be used to put mums and other fall flowers in.
DIY Fall Decor: Consider DIY projects instead of purchasing expensive decor items. For instance, you can create a homemade wooden porch sign from scrap wood with these fall wood crafts, make a beautiful fall wreath using dollar store supplies, and fall mason jars can be turned into beautiful fall lanterns.
Use Natural Elements: Nature offers an abundance of free decor. Gather branches, pinecones, or leaves, arrange them in vases, or create centerpieces. See my post about natural fall decor ideas for more inspiration.
Thrift Stores & Garage Sales: These are treasure troves for affordable decor finds like wicker baskets, planters, lanterns, and more. With a bit of creativity, you can transform second-hand items into beautiful porch decorations for autumn.
Start with a cozy fall door mat to welcome guests to your home. Add seasonal plants and flowers like mums in planters and pots. Create displays with natural elements like corn stalks, hay bales, dried wheat, pumpkins, and gourds. Pinecones, acorns, and fall leaves can be placed in decorative bowls or wicker baskets. Add fall throws, pillows, or outdoor rugs in seasonal patterns and colors if you have porch furniture. Consider adding lanterns with candles, fairy lights, or even string bulb lights to add coziness and warmth to your porch during the evening hours. Hang a fall wreath on your door for a central focal point to your decor.
Utilizing vertical space and selecting the right-sized elements are essential. Choose decorations that are proportional so you don’t overwhelm the space. Use the height of your porch to your advantage. Tall corn stalks or thin, vertical signs can draw the eye upward without taking up much floor space. Stack pumpkins instead of spreading them out. Think about utilizing the walls to add fall wall signs and decorations. In smaller spaces, less can often be more. Pick a few key pieces that you love, and let them be the focus!
Conclusion
Whether you add a simple addition of a few pumpkins by your doorstep or a complete transformation with hay bales, lights, and hand-painted signs, what’s important is the personal touches you bring to the space to make it uniquely yours. Be sure to experiment with different ideas, mix and match decor elements, and, most importantly, enjoy the process!

Loved seeing my fall wheelbarrow in your post. That was a few years back when we lived in Maine, we have since moved to Kentucky and I need to find a new wheelbarrow.

Thanks for letting me know it was yours! I linked it to your blog post. I absolutely love that fall wheelbarrow display. For a while, I searched thrift stores trying to find an older wheelbarrow like that but never found one 🙁
