4th of July Toilet Paper Rocket Craft for Kids

a 4th of July rocket craft for kids made from a toilet paper roll
Prep Time5 minutes
Total Time15 minutes
Servings: 1 rocket
Author: Stephy
Cost: $3

Equipment

  • 1 pair of scissors
  • glue
  • double sided tape
  • pen or pencil to trace the circle

Ingredients

  • scrapbook paper, construction paper, or cardstock
  • patriotic paper straws
  • toilet paper roll
  • Pom-pom pick, silver tinsel, patriotic stars pick, or similar
  • markers, crayons, or paint (optional)
  • stickers, glitter, or other decorative accents (optional)

Instructions

  • Measure and cut out a rectangular piece of paper. The length of this rectangle should match the height of your toilet paper roll. Ensure that the rectangle's width extends beyond the roll's circumference.
  • Wrap the paper around the rocket and tape it to the roll with double-sided tape. I added tape to the inside and outside of the roll.
  • Cut out a 3-5 inch circle from the paper, depending on how big you want the top to be. I traced a circle onto the paper using a ribbon roll as a "template."
  • Cut a slit halfway through the circle.
  • Twist it into a cone shape and tape it together.
  • Add glue around the top of your rocket and place the rocket's cap on top.
  • Place it right side up and let it dry.
  • Glue or tape the fuse and flames to the inside bottom of the roll on opposite sides.
  • Add decorative embellishments, such as stickers or glitter (optional).
